It Wasn’t Us

You may have seen that map by Zippia highlighting the most popular Thanksgiving side dishes based on Google searches. It has each state proudly displaying their favorites of stuffing, mashed potatoes, and green bean casseroles, as well as other Thanksgiving must haves. Yet here we are with Maine showing up as the only state in the union on a quest to find “side salad” recipes!

Now I know what you may be thinking. This is all our Mom’s fault, because she likes to eat healthier as the Holidays approach. But there is no way she is even remotely responsible for googling “side salad” even once in recent months! So for all you side salad searchers in the state of Maine, look no further. Here is the salad Mom serves at all our Holiday meals:

Mixed greens, dried cranberries, dried blueberries, honey roasted walnuts, and vinaigrette dressing.

There, problem solved! Now can you please start googling traditional favorites for Thanksgiving side dishes, before the rest of the country thinks Mainers are weirder than we already are?!

If you’d like to read their findings for your state, please visit Zippia.com.
Oh and for the record, only Asa shows interest in the side salad on any day in this house!

Despite cranberry sauce being the favorite side dish in our state, mom says I’m not allowed to eat it as it would make me too sticky. However, I do get the leftover celery from the stuffing recipe! Score!!
