If you’re looking for a dog friendly beach away from the crowds of Acadia, we recommend Lamoine Beach Park. Located in Lamoine, Maine, this small and rocky beach offers the calm waters of Frenchman Bay, and views of Bar Harbor and Mount Desert Island. In addition, there is a picnic area with grills making this a perfect spot to spend the day with your dog. Popular with local residents, Lamoine Beach is often less crowded than other beaches in the area. However, we suggest visiting during low tide for optimal room to play.
Dogs are allowed all day on-leash. Please be respectful of the commercial fishermen who use this beach for clamming, and as always clean up after your dog. There is a large paved parking lot, with no entrance fee.
Please Note: Lamoine Beach Park is different than Lamoine State Park, located right up the road. On the day we visited, we found Lamoine State Park to be crowded, the picnic area was covered in goose feces, and there is an entrance fee to visit. In comparison, there was only one other family and a birdwatcher at Lamoine Beach Park, and it was very clean.
