Learn From Dogs to Be More Dog in 2021

Alright, we are now officially a few days into 2021, and we couldn’t help but notice those better days everyone was talking about aren’t quite here yet. But don’t worry! They are on their way! In the meantime though while we continue to social distance, Asa and I would like to share our recommendations on how to help make 2021 a positive year. Humans just need to learn from dogs to be more dog!

The following are our suggestions, in no particular order, on how to have a happy and healthy 2021:

Enjoy the simple things in life. A cuddle with a loved one, a walk down a familiar street, a nap in the sun. Life doesn’t have to be a grand adventure for it to be special.

Never pass up an opportunity to get fresh air and exercise. We recommend repeatedly going in and out of the house throughout the day to stand in the yard for just a few moments. Oh and if there happens to be a ball around, a spontaneous game of fetch is good too.

Greet everyone with enthusiasm. Do not take the people you are living with for granted. Follow dogs’ example and although you’ve seen the same person 24/7, each time they enter a room greet them like it’s the first time you’ve seen them in ages!

Be kind and always forgive. Again, this especially holds true when seeing the same people 24/7 as we stay in our bubbles. It’s easy to get on each other’s nerves, but never let it ruin your relationship. We are all entitled to a bad day from time to time. Forgive and forget.

Take plenty of naps. The saying “a tired pup is a cranky pup,” holds true for humans too. If you need to take a break to refresh and renew, do it. Sometimes a quiet moment alone can really make a difference.

Stop and enjoy the world around you. This is a rare moment in your lives to SLOW DOWN. The hustle and bustle of daily life will return eventually. But take time to appreciate the slower pace. We’ll get we’re going eventually.

Also respect the rules. Sit, Stay, Leave It, are all meant to keep us safe.

Finally, live in the moment. Don’t dwell about the past you can’t change, or worry about an uncertain future. Sure you can take steps to ensure that future will be better. However, make sure you enjoy this moment now.

Simply put, being more dog is, my human friends, the secret to a Happy and Healthy New Year in 2021!

And remember, just like this blurry photo, life doesn’t have to be perfect to be wonderful!
