Let Me Eat Cake!

Who knew complete happiness could be found in the form of a cake?  Not just any cake.  A peanut butter banana dog friendly birthday cake.  Mind Blown!

Yesterday we celebrated my birthday.  Yes, I know I turned 4 years old weeks ago, but I waited to share my party with my human Grandpa and Aunt, who also recently had birthdays.  But enough about them.  Mom and Dad have some serious issues about sharing, or actually the lack of sharing.  Every birthday they would get me a cake, put my name on it, sing some silly song to me, and then disappoint me by saying it wasn’t safe for me to eat.  Adding insult to injury, they would then proceed to eat the cake in front of me!  Year after year I’ve watched them devour my cake.  But not this year.

This year Mom and Dad surprised me by baking me my own dog friendly cake and cupcakes!  It was delicious!  It was everything I dreamed a cake should be!  There was PEANUT BUTTER!  And it was for dogs only!  To celebrate this milestone, I shared my cake with Asa and my friends Molly and Madison.  And I will even share this recipe with you.

Ingredients: 1 3/4 cups water, 1/4 cup peanut butter, 2 mashed bananas, 1/8 tsp. vanilla, 1 egg, 2 tbs. honey, 3 cups flour, 1/2 tbs. baking soda.  Optional: 1/2 cup peanut butter for frosting.

Directions: Preheat 350 degrees and grease pan.  Combine ingredients and bake for 30 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center is clean.  After cake has cooled, microwave for 30 to 40 seconds 1/2 cup of peanut butter to use as frosting.  Cool before serving.  (Editor’s note: We split the recipe to make one large cookie cake and four cupcakes.)

Special thanks to my Aunt for suggesting to Mom and Dad that they finally make me my own cake!

Do you think anyone would notice if we ate a cupcake before the party?

Ok, we posed with the cake. Now can we finally eat it?!

Will you stop singing that ridiculous song so we can finally eat the cake?!
