Now I may have mentioned in the past that Dad considers himself to be like MacGyver. He is a big fan of the ’80s television show, in which using ordinary items MacGyver can solve any problem. But unlike MacGyver, Dad doesn’t often find himself in situations where these skills are needed. That is until while grocery shopping, when Mom had a mask fail. Her mask started popping off her ear, and wouldn’t stay in place. Dad saw this as his opportunity to spring into action!

While standing in the frozen foods section, Dad immediately started searching his pockets, and found…a poop bag, of course! Dad’s pockets are always stuffed with poop bags! Whereas MacGyver carried duct tape for emergencies, Dad’s go-to is his trusted poop bags. He immediately told Mom to turn around and he would use that bag to tie the mask to Mom’s head.

However, just as quickly as his MacGyver moment began, Mom put a stop to it. Under no circumstance was she going to walk around the grocery store with a poop bag, even an unused clean one, tied to her head. Dad protested, and said it was for her safety! Mom resisted, saying she would just hold that ear loop in place for the remainder of the shopping trip. As I overheard Mom tell Grandma, Dad sulked all the way home. Although buying cookies at the bakery did lighten his mood.
