Mother Nature vs. Groundhog

Dear Mother Nature and Punxsutawney Phil,

We couldn’t help but notice that you two are having a bit of a disagreement over the arrival of Spring.  We distinctly remember Punxsutawney, that back in February on Groundhog’s Day you predicted an early Spring.  You were even well on your way to surpassing that goal with an early Summer, considering last week’s temps were in the 60s and 70s.  But Mother Nature, you decided this week that the temperatures would plummet to below freezing, and adding insult to injury gave us a fresh coating of snow on the ground.  What’s going on?  You two worked well together in the past.  Why are you at odds now?

Mother Nature, Winter is fun and all, and who can resist playing in the snow.  Dogs love it!  But there is a time and place for it, and early April isn’t it.  Heck, Punxsutawney Phil’s prediction of an early Spring doesn’t even hold weight anymore, because Spring officially started a few weeks ago.  So not to get you on a technicality, but Winter is over and it shouldn’t be this cold.

We’re not the only ones who are upset.  Think of Mother Earth’s feelings!  She has been hard at work getting the planet ready for Earth Day later on this month.  But now Mother Earth’s beautiful Spring flowers are covered in snow, the buds on the trees are frozen, and the Spring Peepers have stopped singing their cheery song.  It’s time to end this nonsense and let Spring begin!

Respectfully,

Chuck Billy & Asa

Spring, please come back!

Mother Nature and Punxsutawney Phil, please stop fighting and bring back Spring!  I think I see a blade of grass over there…
