I have to admit I’m very impressed with how Asa used losing his puppy teeth to his advantage. It all started one day when we were out in the yard. Mom heard him making a grinding noise and thought that he had a rock in his mouth. But upon hearing the “Drop It” command, Asa surprised us all by dropping a puppy molar into her hand! Although Mom was a bit disgusted by this surprise, she was very happy he knew this command, and rewarded him with a treat. From that moment forward each time he lost a tooth, Asa would find Mom and drop it in front of her. She of course couldn’t resist his charm, and felt obligated to give him a treat whether or not he was responding to a command. Not fair! Ok so truth be told, Lemmy was my favorite chew toy, and they would find my puppy teeth in his thick mane when they groomed him. But if I knew I could get a treat for them I may have been more aware of where I left them!
Regardless of the undeserved treats, I am very happy to report we survived Asa’s tiny razor sharp teeth! As of this week, Asa lost the last of his puppy teeth, and his adult teeth are all growing in nicely. No more needle sharp teeth biting my ears, Mom’s hands will no longer look like she was attacked by a zombie, and best yet hopefully soon his incessant need to gnaw everything in sight will subside! Oh happy day!
