My First Collaboration

In the history of music, there are iconic songwriting duos: John Lennon and Paul McCarthy, Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, Elton John and Bernie Taupin, Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora, just to name a few. Today begins my journey to be added to this list. Let me introduce the newest member of my team – Fa Lla Lla Llama! This talented lyricist was introduced to me by another great duo, Sijan and Moose, whose vocal harmonies are more famous in their neighborhood than Nelson, Hanson, and the Jonas Brothers combined. Fa Lla Lla Llama brings a fresh new perspective to give my music an added boost. The following is our first collaboration, a loosely based parody of Paula Cole’s “Where Have All the Cowboys Gone?” called Where Have All the Squeakies Gone?

Squeak squeak, squeak squeak, Squeak squeak, squeak squeak…

Oh, in the evening time, Momma pets me on the head
Puts away my toys, before going to bed
When it’s time to sleep
I can’t make a peep
There’s nothing more left to be said

I will be a good boy
If you leave my toys

Where is my bacon ball?
Where is my squirrel doll?
Where is my teddy bear?
Where have all my squeakies gone?

Why don’t you just leave them?
Relax and go to sleep
And I’ll promise not to chew
Oh, even if I’m awake with nothing else to do
How do you hear me from your room, Mommy?

I will be a good boy
If you leave my toys

Where is my bacon ball?
Where is my squirrel doll?
Where is my teddy bear?
Where have all my squeakies gone?

I am missing my new toys tonight
But you don’t, but you don’t even know their names
Let us squeak tonight
Let us squeak tonight
Let us squeak tonight

I will get a basket, big enough to store them all
And will clean up their messy living room sprawl
You just leave my friends here
You won’t even notice if they bring too much late night cheer

I will be a good boy
If you leave all my toys

Where is my bacon ball?
Where is my squirrel doll?
Where is my teddy bear?
Where have all my squeakies gone?
Where have all my squeakies gone?
Where have all my squeakies gone?

Squeaky squeaky, squeaky squeaky
Squeaky squeaky, squeaky squeaky
Squeaky squeaky, squeaky squeaky
Squeaky, squeaky, yeah! Yeah!

Ok I admit this is a way out of the comfort zone, with its whispered spoken words parts and lack of falsetto rock wails. But all new collaborations go through an awkward stage. I think it’s an interesting start to this new partnership, and Fa Lla Lla Llama really does a great job on the background squeaking!
