Super Mom to the rescue! I admit sometimes I take Mom for granted, but this weekend she went above and beyond to get me a new bacon scented squeaky ball. You may have noticed in the photos I posted the past couple of weeks that I had a different ball. That’s because I accidentally destroyed my favorite bacon scented squeaky ball over the 4th of July weekend. Ok, I admit it. The neighbor’s constant fireworks totally freaked me out, and I took my frustrations out on my cherished ball.
Now usually all I have to do to get a new one is just open my toy box and one will magically appear. But this time no such luck. And trust me I searched! I took out everything that was inside, frantically looking for a beloved replacement. Instead I had to settle for a new type of ball. Now any fetch aficionado will understand you can’t just play with any ball. It has to have the correct consistency, proper bounce, and most importantly needs just the right squeak. This new ball wasn’t going to work. Now before you dismiss me as being spoiled, which I’m not, I did give the ball a chance. However, after a few disappointing rounds of fetch, I gave up and just watched Asa happily play with it. Asa will play fetch with anything. Amateur!
Tired of seeing my tail droop, on Sunday while doing errands Mom stopped at the usual store she buys my coveted ball. However, they had none in stock! Word must be getting out on how awesome they are, because they always have my bacon scented squeaky ball! Undaunted, Mom tried a second store where she’s purchased them in the past. Alas they only had the small one, which could be a choking hazard for me. After going to a few other stores in the area, with no luck, Mom set off on her quest to buy for me my most cherished possession.
Now I know the easiest thing for Mom to do would be to order it online. But waiting for it to be delivered would have only delayed my happiness. So that Sunday afternoon, when Mom could have been doing anything else to avoid helping Dad build our new walkway, she drove 22 miles out of her way to buy me not one but two bacon scented squeaky balls! Thanks Mom! I promise from now on, I will take extra good care of my toys, and will not let stress get the better of me. Now let’s go out and celebrate this happy reunion with a game of fetch!
