My Nemesis, also known as the Squirrel, has crossed the line! Up until now he has somewhat respected my boundaries by lurking on the outskirts of my yard. But today he boldly ventured into my yard straight to Dad’s box garden, scurried up Mom’s sunflower, and proceeded to start eating it! All while I helplessly watched from my living room window! I tried barking, but the Squirrel knew I was a prisoner in my own home. Where were Mom and Dad to let me out to vanquish this intruder? Worst yet, why was Asa more interested in chewing his bone than helping me?! Is Asa truly that oblivious to danger?
After what seemed like an eternity, Mom and Dad finally arrived home, and let me out. But the damage had been done. Mom’s sunflower was decimated. Oddly enough she didn’t even seem troubled by this act of vandalism, and simply dismissed it as the poor little guy must have been hungry. Even Asa was on the Squirrel’s side by eating the leftover sunflower carnage spewed across our yard, and commenting that it was quite tasty. Must Asa eat everything he sees? Only I knew the true meaning of this act of defiance. Just like how Pirates use to shoot a cannon ball across the bow of a ship to warn of an impending attack, my Nemesis has sent me a warning shot. Well played Squirrel, well played. But I will be ready for you next time!
