My Nightmare at the End of the Week

At the end of the week I will be facing my nightmare. Asa picked out a Halloween costume for me. It’s not that I don’t like dressing up. It’s just that Asa and I have very different opinions on what a Halloween costume should be. In the spirit of the holiday, I think a costume should be scary. In contrast, Asa’s philosophy is a costume should reflect one’s personality or hobbies. Therefore I have no doubt Asa chose something silly and not scary for me to wear. But in my defense, with my busy schedule as a great detective and renowned Dog Ufologist, who has time to scour the internet for a costume? Asa does, that’s who!

Last year I avoided this humiliation because Asa got distracted and had a late start to his search. Although he found a wide variety that he liked, thankfully they were all sold out in the size needed to fit his ginormous blockhead and furry chest. Therefore I got to rewear my favorite werewolf costume consisting of a simple flannel shirt, while Asa wore his beloved caterpillar costume again.

I wish I did a better job distracting Asa from his quest this year, but what’s done is done. So instead I went to work trying to stop delivery by removing the porch stairs.

I defy deliveries to get past these missing stairs! (And yes, I did feel the need to paint my initials inside my handy work.)

But much to my amazement I still found Asa in the kitchen surrounded by his purchases!

What do you mean you “couldn’t decide” and bought us two costumes each?!

Who taught Asa how to rebuild stairs?!

Halloween can be scary for dogs, especially for a big tough guy like me. Wish me luck, Asa and I will be revealing our costumes at the end of the week.
