The Negutaquit Nature Trails in North Berwick offer 55 acres of dog friendly hiking. Located behind the North Berwick Elementary School, these trails are the most well-marked trails we’ve seen because they are designed to be used by children. Maintained by volunteers and used by teachers as an outdoor classroom, the trails meander through dense forest, over the Negutaquit River on a beautiful suspension bridge, to open fields. The mission of the Nagutaquit Nature Trails is to “serve the citizens of The Berwicks by providing a place for renewal and peace, while fostering a respect for the environment and maintaining the delicate balance of nature.”
Parking is available in the school parking lot, and the two Trailheads can be found behind the school’s playground. Because this is an educational facility, please be respectful if students are present by keeping your dogs leashed.
