Oh dear, it makes my tail droop when the neighbors aren’t getting along. Yesterday I took Mom and Dad out for a walk while Chuck Billy stayed home, and we witnessed the most disturbing altercation between Mr. and Mrs. Robin and Jay Bluejay. Dad was the first to notice something was amiss when he spotted Mr. Robin sitting at the very top of a pine tree. He thought it was strange for him to be so conspicuous. Usually the Robins prefer to rest lower among the branches. Anyways, before he could get his thought out, Jay Bluejay came swooping out of nowhere with Mr. and Mrs. Robin in fast pursuit.
Oh it was awful! They barely missed Dad’s head when one of the Robins grabbed at the Bluejay in mid-flight. There was a poof of feathers! Along with a lot of squawking and squabbling. The Robins were working as a team giving Jay Bluejay little room to maneuver to escape. As quickly as it happened in front of us, off they flew towards our yard.
Mom commented that the Bluejay must have been trying to steal the Robins’ eggs. Mom is so quick to jump to conclusions! We don’t know that for certain. That’s how neighborhood gossip gets started. Speaking of gossip, still rattled by what happened, we barely walked farther when we were confronted by our nosey neighbor. Ms. Owl was looking at us all wide eyed and asking “Who?!” She has a serious case of fear of missing out, and is constantly asking me that question. Well it was none of her business what we saw, so I kept right on walking and ignored her.
I wish our neighbors would be more like this new little neighbor. My apologies, I do not know her name yet. But she’s been hard at work since moving to the neighborhood to build a new home for her soon to be growing family. I’m so glad I was able to help her with my free fur. The price of building supplies is so expensive these days for new families. I hope the disagreement between the Robin family and Jay Bluejay doesn’t make her reconsider living in our otherwise happy neighborhood.
