Neighborhood Patrol just got a whole lot better for Asa and me. A dog treat truck visits us! It’s just like the ice cream truck that brings treats for humans, except this one is for dogs only! Ok, so perhaps it isn’t exactly like the ice cream truck. Our truck is driven by a local dog food distributor, and once a week he drives down our street on the way to make his deliveries. Lucky for us, his routine coincides with ours! So for three weeks in a row we’ve been out on an afternoon walk when he has stopped to offer us each a delicious treat!
Why he’s chosen our street as part of his route, I haven’t a clue. There are more direct routes he could take. But I’m not going to overthink it! I’m just going to look forward to seeing my new friend. Asa, on the other paw, isn’t as observant as me. He now gets very excited when every truck, or large vehicle, or car, or motorcycle for that matter, rumbles past. Asa begins pulling with anticipation only to be disappointed because it isn’t the right truck. He even dreams of working with our new best friend. Ok, I admit, I wouldn’t mind a trip or two as copilot in that truck full of treats too. I just wish Asa would stop singing that ridiculous song…
Who can take a sunrise
(Who can take a sunrise)
Sprinkle it with dew
(Sprinkle it with dew)
Cover it in dog treats
And a miracle or two
The dog treat man
(The dog treat man)
The dog treat man can
(The dog treat man can)
The dog treat man can ’cause he
Mixes it with love and
Makes our walks taste good!
