New England Sled Dog Fair

Whether you’re new to the exciting sport of sled dog racing, a seasoned professional, or somewhere in-between, there’s something for everyone at the Northern New England Sled Dog Trade Fair.  With world-renowned speakers including Iditarod racers, and practical seminars on topics ranging from Bikejorning to pet first aid, and fast paced races the NNESDTF has something for all levels.

This year’s featured speakers will be Justin and Jaimee High of Alaska, who have competed in the Iditarod; and Bruce Magnusson, an accomplished Stage & Mid-Distance Racer.  Donna Harwood, DVM, will be presenting an informative seminar on pet first aid.  There will also be seminars on the exciting sports of Bikejoring and Canicross.  In addition, the NNESDTF includes vendors with hard to find items especially for mushing, as well as other dog racing equipment and demos.  Also available will be unique pet related products and gifts, including Pet Portraits by Meredith Reynells.

Best yet, there will be racing!  There will be a Fast CAT practice course and demonstration set up all day on Saturday for dogs to try this exciting new AKC sport.  Runs are $5 per dog.  On Sunday morning will be the featured dry land race for anyone who wants to test their abilities, with classes for everything from a one-dog team to those with many more experienced dogs. There is a $10 entry fee for Sunday’s race.  These are both great spectator races!

The Northern New England Sled Dog Trade Fair will be taking place this weekend, October 6-7, 2018, from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM at the Hopkinton State Fair Grounds (392 Kearsarge Ave. Contoocook, NH).  Admission is $10/one day or $15/both days.  Kids under 16 are free.  Well-behaved dogs on-leash are also welcomed.  For more information, including the complete schedule of events, visit SledDogTradeFair.org.  You can also get more up to date information on Facebook at Northern New England Sled Dog Trade Fair and Seminars.
