No Overthinking This Year’s Costume

Well I thought I had the perfect Halloween costume for this year. One that would be on trend as the most sought after toy in the country. And best yet it wouldn’t cost me anything, except for a really expensive surgery. You see, with my unfortunate haircut due to my nasal surgery, I thought I could just add bunny ears and pass as a Labubu! I mean look at us here from a photo of me taken last month, we are practically twins! But alas, my fur grew back, so I had to think up a new costume.

However, rather than purchase a Halloween costume, I thought I’d head up to the attic to see what I could create with a little imagination, and the fact that Mom throws nothing out. Proof in point, I first stumbled upon this vintage Little Orphan Annie costume!

But the mask didn’t quite fit right, and the plastic part melted after years in the hot attic. Also Mom wouldn’t let me wear the actual Annie dress that Great Grammy made all those years ago for Halloween.

The vintage witch mask was better! But still not quite right.

So then I moved onto a different box in the attic, and found an old wizard costume. That’s it! Combined with a snow globe, I could be the Winter Warlock from the holiday classic, “Santa Claus Is Coming to Town!” Because everyone knows Halloween is the kickoff to Christmas!

Oh but I could hear Angel Chuck Billy in my head saying I look more like a Christmas Dunce than wizard.

Clearly I was overthinking my costume. The clues were right in front of me! As I pondered what I found, while lying on my patch work of blankets strewn on the floor, because my nose is dripping again, it dawned on me. Signing Girl + Witch + Wizard = The Wizard of Oz! And who is my favorite character in that movie? The Scarecrow! Up to the attic I raced to assemble the pieces of my no brainer costume!

“Oh, I would tell you why
The ocean’s near the shore
I could think of things I never thunk before
And then I’d sit and think some more…”

Angel Chuck Billy would definitely approve of me dressing up as the Scarecrow from The Wizard of Oz! Happy Halloween!
