Ode to the Grill

Ode to the Grill: You’ve given me my summer fill, your delicious scents gave me a thrill!  But summer has come and gone,  and no more will you grace our lawn…

The saddest day of the year has arrived.  The day Dad puts away the grill for winter.  No more delicious smells of grilled hamburgers wafting through the air.  No more inviting friends over for cookouts, and scoring an ill-gotten hot dog from an inattentive toddler.  And no more circling the grill with the hope of catching a dropped steak tip.  I never did catch any, but that didn’t mean I wasn’t trying!

Alas, all good things must come to an end.  Perhaps grilled hot dogs wouldn’t be so special if I had access to them all year long?  Besides, putting the grill in storage signals that winter is right around the corner.  That means there will be winter hikes!  Mounds of snow to dig in!  And snowmen to destroy!  Oh boy!
