On a Steel Horse I Ride to Denmark

Welcome to the first stop on Asa’s World Tour of Maine – Denmark! Located in Oxford County, Denmark, Maine boasts a population of just under 2,000, according to the 2020 census, and based on the town website, no one really knows why this community was named Denmark.

Asa: Wow, are all those cars in the parking lot here to see me?

Chuck Billy: No, they’re here for a wedding at the church. But check out your name on the sign in the ball park!

Asa: I don’t see it?

Chuck Billy: You can’t expect me to remember all the details! I’ll photoshop it in later. Let’s just go pose by the town sign to take some publicity photos before moving on to where the show will be! Why are you making that weird face?

Asa: It’s my tough guy, rock star look.

Chuck Billy: Just relax and be yourself. There that’s much better. Now hurry up! We have to get to the show before it starts raining!

Asa: Oh wow! You booked me a venue with festival seating for my first show! Where are we anyways?

Chuck Billy: We are in the nearby town of Bridgton, Maine at Peabody-Fitch Woods and Narramissic Farm.

Asa: Wait? I know my music appeals to a wide range of ages, but who are those people over there in the old fashion uniforms?

Chuck Billy: That’s our event security! Do you know how much matching t-shirts for security guards costs these days?! That would seriously dip into our catering budget. Besides, these guys came highly recommended by the Bridgton Historical Society.

Asa: I suppose next you’ll tell me tickets are expensive too, and that’s why there is no one in the audience?

Chuck Billy: Nonsense! The pouring rain kept them away! I can’t control the weather you know. But this is a great first stop on the tour! Now let’s go for a hike!

Asa: What? That’s it?! When do I perform? What about the after party?

Chuck Billy: Tune in tomorrow for more information about Peabody-Fitch Woods and Narramissic Farm, and be sure to check back weekly for updates on Asa’s World Tour of Maine!
