One More Day Is a Gift, Don’t Waste It

Tomorrow we will all be receiving an amazing opportunity! Thanks to Leap Day, we have an extra day this year! Time and time again, in moments of tragedy or loss, or even when just dealing with the hurried pace of daily life, humans will wish, “if only I had one more day.” Well here is your chance! Oh sure the timing of it isn’t very convenient, what with it landing on a work/school day. But that doesn’t diminish from the fact that this year we have an extra day. So the question becomes, how are you going to use it?

Even though on the surface tomorrow will be like any other with your regular responsibilities, we urge you to make the effort to take time on February 29, 2024, whether it be a few minutes, an hour or two, or even an entire day, to do something meaningful. Reach out to that friend or relative who you haven’t spoken to in a while, but has been on your mind. Return that email you’ve been putting off, or better yet make it a phone call. Start or finish that project you never seem to have the time to do. Plan that dream vacation. Try that new recipe or restaurant. Make those homemade dog treats. Check one thing off your perpetual to-do list! Read the first chapter in the book collecting dust next to the bed. Play that extra game of fetch with your dog. Go for a hike and finally see what’s beyond that bend in the trail. Drive the scenic way home from work that makes you smile. Or simply unplug and spend quiet time with those you love. Whatever you do, the choice is yours!

We can’t go back and change those days we’ve missed, and the future is not guaranteed. So don’t let the opportunity of one more day pass you by, because the next time you get an extra day will be 2028.

Dogs live in the moment, so to us every day is like having one more day that we enjoy to the fullest. But for most humans, who dream about having an extra day, Leap Day is a gift, don’t waste it!
