While watching the Winter Olympics, I couldn’t help but get nostalgic thinking about the games Angel Chuck Billy and I played. Notice I didn’t say compete. Chuck Billy was by far a better athlete than me, and had a stronger competitive spirit. I was simply happy to be out there playing in the snow with him. And oh did we have fun! Recently I heard that the International Olympic Committee is considering adding summer-style sports to the Winter Olympics. May I be so bold as to suggest a few of our summer games played in winter?
Such as when Chuck Billy introduced me to the discus throw.

And he proved without a doubt that the track and field event of hurdles can be a winter sport.

Although the debate is still out on pole vaulting.

Another sport that translates to winter surprisingly well is the 100m sprint.

However, the one sport that the International Olympic Committee really should consider adding to the Winter Olympics is fetch!

It has all the elements of the other recognized sports: It is fast paced.

There is a degree of uncertainty.

And the snow makes the playing field more even, with the possibility of a surprising upset!

But as I stated earlier, our summer games played in winter were all in good fun, and I celebrated all of Angel Chuck Billy’s accomplishments. Because just like with the official Olympics, our games represented the Olympic core values of “friendship, solidarity, fair play, and mutual understanding, aiming to foster a peaceful and better world through sport.”
