Pet Rock in the Park 2023

Attention New England Dogs! Take a bite out of pet cancer at a fun-filled day of live music dedicated to raising money to support the efforts of the Animal Cancer Foundation! The 12th Annual Pet Rock in the Park will be taking place this Sunday, August 27, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM in Deering Oaks Park (161 Forest Avenue) in Portland, Maine. Back by popular demand will be the 6-piece dance party band, The Time Pilots, performing hits from the ’70s, ’80s, and ’90s. In addition to the live music there will be animal welfare organizations, food trucks, pet products and services, live demonstrations, and raffles.

Speaking of raffles, be sure to stop and say “hi!” to our friends from No Bowl Empty 2 Pet Food Pantry, and their spokespup, Raine! They are having a fun raffle for anyone who donates to their pet food pantry, and will also have some great free giveaways while supplies last. Look for their big red popup tent.

Hosted by Portland Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Care, Pet Rock in the Park is FREE, with proceeds to benefit the Animal Cancer Foundation. The Animal Cancer Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to finding a cure for cancer by funding research in and increasing public awareness of comparative oncology, the study of naturally occurring cancers in people and pets.  Since 1999, the American Cancer Foundation has funded cooperative research initiatives to accelerate development of new therapies, and to bring together researchers across disciplines and species to share information.

More than 3,000 pets and their owners attended last year’s Pet Rock in the Park, and even larger crowds are expected this year. Therefore we will have to sit out this event, because Asa startles easy in crowds on his blindside. However here is a photo of us enjoying the event in 2019, and we hope our friends in the New England area will go out and support this great cause.
