Get your motor running, and head on out to the American Legion Riders Chapter 2 Poker Run to benefit Hero Pups and RuckUp! Registration begins at 9:00 AM this Saturday, May 22, 2021, starting at Sweeney Post #2, 251 Maple Street, in Manchester, NH. This event is a self-paced Poker Run, open to all bikes and cars. Registration is $20 a hand, and maps with instructions will be provided for the other stops. There will also be great food, raffles, music, and fun after the ride. Proceeds will benefit Hero Pups and Ruck Up.
Hero Pups places dogs with veterans and first responders. Their focus is on veterans who are dealing with post traumatic stress (PTSD), anxiety and service-connected challenges. They also train dogs to work as police comfort dogs to help people that have been the victim of a crime, have experienced a traumatic event, reduce stress during difficult times and build community relations. They achieve this by training shelter and rescue pups whenever possible. While they are based in New Hampshire, this all volunteer organization serves veterans and first responders from around New England.
RuckUp supports veterans, military and their families here on the home front. It is a hands-on organization that raises awareness and funding to tackle the psychological and emotional battles affecting veterans on the home front such as PTS, CTE, TBI, homelessness, unemployment and reintegration. RuckUp reminds veterans and their families that they never need to suffer alone.
