Portland Head Light at Fort Williams Park in Cape Elizabeth, Maine has everything you need for a scenic dog friendly day including cliff walk with lighthouse views, historic fort to explore, and even an off-leash dog area! Consisting of approximately 90 acres, there is also a rocky beach, arboretum, and picnic areas. Dogs must be on-leash at most of the park. There is however an off-leash area that is popular with local residents, just follow the signs past Battery Blair.
Please note that Portland Head Light is a popular tourist destination, especially for large bus tours. We recommend visiting the lighthouse during the off-peak hours. However, the park is large enough to enjoy exploring some of the less trafficked areas without the crowds. Portland Head Light at Fort Williams Park is open year round dawn to dusk, with a large central parking lot, and smaller parking areas throughout the park.
