Question about Best Buggie Friend Houseguest

Question: does anyone know what ladybugs eat for breakfast? I have a surprise houseguest, and I want her to feel welcome. Oh and safe too! Since last evening when Miss Ladybug arrived, I’ve been hard at work trying to ladybug proof my house. She’s more mischievous than a human toddler!

It all began last evening after dinner when Mom was brushing my teeth, and we noticed Miss Ladybug on our kitchen floor. To be honest, I’m not sure when she arrived, or even how she arrived based on all the snow and bitter cold weather. But there she was on my kitchen floor!

Now I know from experience, that insects are not a big fan of the happy dance that I usually do to greet guests. Please don’t ask how I know this, I don’t want to scare my current one. Anyways, Mom carefully used an envelope to scoop up my little BBF – Best Buggie Friend – and safely placed her on the kitchen counter. There she watched as Miss Ladybug scurried over to a drop of water and began to drink.

Wherever she came from, it must have been far because she certainly worked up a thirst! I know this because at bedtime Mom went to rinse a plate and saw my Best Buggie Friend in a precarious situation. She was in the sink, dangerously close to the drain! Once again, Mom came to the rescue with that same piece of mail, and deposited Miss Ladybug on the kitchen windowsill, where she would hopefully be comfortable for a goodnight’s sleep.

This morning I came running downstairs, and after herding my Sheepie from the Nativity set, I discovered Miss Ladybug was once again trying to quench her thirst. This time she was in my water bowl! Worried that I may have to do CPR, Mom once again rescued her, this time using a spoon to gently remove her from what must seem like the biggest swimming pool ever. We watched with concern as the ladybug sat in her puddle on the kitchen table.

Alright, so nature called, and Mom took me and Sheepie outside, then we proceeded to go about our morning routine, and forgot about my BBF. But when Mom sat down to breakfast, she realized Miss Ladybug had moved to a travel magazine that was on the kitchen table. Clearly she must be tired of this visit, and is planning her next. But before she goes, I really should offer her breakfast. So I ask again, does anyone know what ladybugs eat for breakfast?

Sorry no pictures. Had Mom known this visit would turn out to be so involved she would have tried to at least get one. But she wasn’t expecting my Best Buggie Friend as a houseguest either!
