Researching the Secret Lives of Cats

In my on-going research into the secret lives of cats I made a startling discovery.  Some cats like to do errands!  Prior to Saturday’s observation, I was aware that a few cats enjoy going on vacation.  Case in point a couple years ago I interviewed my friend Cheez-It about his multiple trips cross country.  However, I thought he was the exception to the rule.  Little did I realize a routine trip to the dump would expand my research in a whole new direction.

Cat Research Log Observation #163: While at the town dump I observed what appeared to be a cat in the truck in front of me.  Sighting confirmed when cat stuck head through window to be petted by transfer station employee.  Cat appeared to enjoy being petted.  Cat also appeared to enjoy sniffing the fragrant aromas of the dump.  Upon questioning by Dad, employee confirmed that the cat frequently accompanies her owner on errands around town.

Further Research Questions: Do cats enjoy car rides as much as dogs?  Are there more cats out there accompanying their humans on errands?  Is this cat and Cheez-It exceptions to the rule?  Or are my kitty cousins who spend their days staying home, sleeping, and hiding from company the exception to the rule?  Are cats all work and no play?  If cats like going places, why don’t I ever see cats at the beach or on hikes?

I must continue my research into the secret lives of cats.  Perhaps this library book will help answer some of my questions?

I have so many questions, but so few answers. What do cats do for fun all day?
