When you’re a celebrity, such as myself it can be difficult going places because I’m often spotted by adoring fans. Case in point yesterday I wanted to take a leisurely stroll. However it didn’t take long for people to notice me. Peddling towards me from the opposite direction, I could hear the leader in a bicyclist group point at me and yell, “DOG!” This action was soon repeated by each member of the group as they peddled past me.
At first I looked back at Asa with Dad to make sure he wasn’t doing anything ridiculous. Thankfully, they were walking at a respectable heel. That’s when I felt a slight tug on my leash and looked up at Mom. She must have been feeling rather jealous of this display of adoration from the bikers, because she felt the need to explain her interpretation of the events. She said, “It is the lead biker’s job to point out any potential obstacles in the trail. That includes dogs. But no worries, you’re doing an awesome heel!”
Oh sure Mom, you keep telling yourself that they were warning the others of an “obstacle.” I know the truth. Based on the big smiles on their faces, and the slight waves some were giving me, this group clearly recognized who I am. But thankfully respected my desire to remain incognito to my fellow walkers, so simply yelled, “DOG!” To the bikers who instantly recognized me, thank you for keeping my true identity a secret.
