Snowy March Down Memory Lane

Mother Nature, come over here and sit with me for a moment as I take you for a March down memory lane. I know you’re very busy, especially since you were up all last night making it rain here, so I condensed the photos from the past 9 winters in March into this collage. Notice anything special about them? Take your time. Look at each one carefully.

March 4, 2015: That’s right! 2015 was the snowiest winter on record for Maine! Look how high the snow was on the fence. Puppy Asa and I could step right over it!

March 21, 2016: I agree, Asa does look silly in that photo. But look how deep the snow was in our yard at the end of March.

March 8, 2017: I admit that year the snow was looking a little sparse in our yard that March, so we had to go on a hike to find an adequate amount. There’s nothing like a stroll in a winter wonderland to rejuvenate the spirit!

March 10, 2018: We had an abundance of riches in 2018! So much so that Asa and I started a side hustle of selling snowmen to help you with snow distribution that year.

March 12, 2019: Stop rolling your eyes at Asa’s silly joke about snowmen keeping their money in a snowbank. I know that joke was awful. But isn’t that snowbank behind us impressive?

March 24, 2020: Most people want to forget the events of 2020, but not me! I like the memories of that late March snow. It made staying home fun!

March 11, 2021: Alright, so we were still trapped at home in 2021, and Asa was dreaming of a day out at the beach. But that doesn’t take away from the fact you blanketed our yard with so much snow it looked like white sands on a beach. Not a speck of grass could be seen!

March 5, 2022: We had plenty of white fluffy snow to play fetch in on this day in early March 2022. No worries about ice slowing me down that day!

March 4, 2023: And we’ll always treasure the memory of the big storm you sent us last year. It was the first time Asa played fetch after his surgery. Oh that was a magical day!

And now, let me share with you a photo Mom snapped of our backyard yesterday on March 6, 2024. Notice anything different about this photo compared to the above collage? Yes, that’s right! There’s no snow! There isn’t even ice!

Mother Nature, perhaps this snowy March down memory lane will inspire you to add a surprise snowstorm to the forecast in the coming days? You know, something that we can look back on in years to come and smile, while remembering what fun we had playing in the snow. Just an idea for you to consider…
