Chuck Billy has all the luck! Day in and day out we go on neighborhood patrol and nothing happens. Then suddenly I’m sidelined for an injury and he has all sorts of adventures on his walk without me! Even more upsetting is Chuck Billy doesn’t even appreciate it! It all started a couple days ago when out on patrol Chuck Billy found a Squirrelsicle sticking out of a snowbank. In case you are not familiar with this delicacy, it is a Squirrel frozen like a popsicle. How cool is that? But does Chuck Billy bring it home to share with me? No! Ok, Dad wouldn’t let him. So that makes it all the more aggravating that I wasn’t on the walk to sniff it too.
Then yesterday while out on patrol Chuck Billy finally met the new neighbors! They moved into the neighborhood in late fall, but are rarely out. We’ve heard them barking from afar, but yesterday they finally introduced themselves. Yet Chuck Billy didn’t even bother to learn their names. That’s not very neighborly of him! All I know is one is a Black Lab who is very friendly and wanted to play, while the other is a bit more skittish Black Lab mix who stayed close to home. I bet Chuck Billy didn’t even bother to tell them he has an awesome little brother. Well at least unlike the Squirrelsicle which is a rare find, I’m sure I’ll get a chance to meet the new neighbors now that the weather is getting warmer.
However, today is the biggest insult to injury! Day in and day out we always leave the house by way of the garage. But this morning the garage door is frozen shut from yesterday’s melting snow. I thought well at least this means Chuck Billy is stuck inside with me. But no, they exited the house through the FRONT DOOR! Mind blown! Never in my wildest dreams did I ever imagine leaving the house by way of the front door. And trust me, I have some pretty wild dreams. Ok, so eventually I also got to go out the front door to go on driveway patrol with Mom. But it’s not the same. Nothing ever happens on driveway patrol. There’s not even a hint of Trouble! By Trouble I mean the neighbor who lives across the street but is often in our front yard. He could at least come over to say “Hi” and keep me company in my time of need. I wanted to climb up the snowbank to get his attention, but Mom wouldn’t let me. Oh well, got to go! At least I’m not missing out on the adventure of getting Mom’s car out of the frozen garage! I wonder if she’ll have to drive it through the front door too?
