This Sunday, September 13, 2015, is the 21st annual Strut Your Mutt to benefit the Animal Welfare Society (AWS). Grab your leashes and head to Mother’s Beach in Kennebunk, Maine for a scenic stroll. The pledge money will benefit the Sadie Fund. Named for a special dog, who had to be surrendered because her family could not afford her medical costs, the Sadie Fund helps to pay for expensive medical care that some of the homeless animals at AWS need.
The festivities begin at 9:00 AM with the fundraiser walk kicking off at 11:00 AM. All dogs participating will receive a bandana and a medal for completing the walk. There will be contests and games on the beach for dogs; local businesses will be giving away samples and coupons for pet related products at the Pet Pavilion; there will be face painting and games for children; and The Serfs will be performing their eclectic music!
This is the largest single fundraising event for the Animal Welfare Society, which spends approximately $150,000 annually on medical care for pets that need it. So the Sadie Fund is crucial to making pets healthy, happy and ready for adoption.
