Exciting news! The Animal Welfare Society combined their two biggest fundraisers into one even bigger tail wagging event! So come on down this Saturday and Strut Your Mutt at Woofstock! This is a FREE family-friendly, dog-friendly, beer and food festival benefiting AWS’ Companions for Life Fund for pet veterinary care.
Strut Your Mutt through the beer garden, and while you’re there be sure to sample delicious local brews from eight different breweries. Taster tickets are $20 for eight 4oz. samples, or $10 for three 4oz. samples. Then strut on over to food trucks to check out their eclectic menu choices with everything from tasty entrees to delicious desserts.
Be sure to bring along your lawn chairs or blanket to sit back and groove to live music from the Kennebunk River Band and The Serfs, while the kids test their skills at the mega obstacle course for humans only, followed by a visit to the bounce house and slide. Then Strut Your Mutt over to the Flower Power Kids Zone to make far out crafts for the animals at AWS. Also be sure to check out the unique goods being sold by hip people at the vendor tables.
Hopefully your dog won’t be dazed and confused when he tries his paw at their souped-up agility course. Volunteers will be jazzed to show you how to set up your own course at home! Then you can hang loose meeting the funky felines and psychedelic pooches available for adoption. You can even have a blast joining them on a guided pack walk on the AWS’ nature trails. Also be sure to wear your best ’60s outfit to Strut Your Mutt on the catwalk for the costume contest. There will be groovy prizes for dogs, kids and adults!
Please Note: Due to the predicted extreme temperatures for Saturday, AWS has also added hydration stations, refreshing kiddie pools for pups, and will have designated cooling stations inside their air conditioned buildings to escape the heat. Their veterinary staff will also be ready to treat any pups that may become distressed or overheated. However, you know your dog best! If your pup doesn’t do well in the heat, please leave them at home. There is plenty to do at Woofstock without your dog, so please use your best judgment on what would be best for them and for you!

Through the Animal Welfare Society’s Community Veterinary Clinic, they offer a wide array of services and procedures to provide high-quality care to feline and canine patients, whether they are residents of the shelter looking for their forever home or members of the greater community. Their clinic’s services are affordable, keeping veterinary care accessible to everyone. But they can’t do it without community support of the Companions for Life Fund, a fund solely dedicated to providing veterinary care to pets in need.
