Summer is a great time to take a break from the old routine and have some fun. However, the work of animal shelters continue every day, and they still need your help! Summer months tend to be the busiest time for animal shelters, yet it is also when they experience a drop in donations. So today we’re asking you to lend a helping paw by donating to your local animal shelter, rescue, or pet food pantry.
Your donations of pet food and other supplies not only help to feed hungry bellies, but also make it possible to redirect funds to other important needs that animal shelters provide, including much needed medical care. So your donations of pet food (wet and dry), blankets, towels, kitty litter, piddle pads and more, can go a long way to helping shelter pets as they anxiously await finding their forever homes.
Donating is quick and easy to do because many shelters have an online wish list available through Amazon or Chewy.com. So you just need to do a few clicks, and can send the food directly to the animal shelter of your choice. Other shelters have donation bins at your local pet supply stores. So while out shopping for your own pet, pick up a little extra and drop it in the bin as you head out the door to more summer adventures. Or deliver your gift in person! The staff and volunteers would love to meet you, and taking the time to visit with the animals could help brighten the day of a pup in need. You may even find a forever friend.
