Once upon a time, a Golden, who absolutely loves Christmas and watched a lot of movies and read a lot of books on the topic, visited a special house. While his older brother chatted downstairs with friends, Asa, oops I mean just a random Golden who believes in the magic of Christmas, decided to explore the house, with a sock that he found. He soon found himself drawn to a room with what he instantly knew was a magical fireplace used by Santa!
Excited he ran downstairs to get his brother, to see the fireplace. “What’s so special about this?” barked the skeptical older brother. “It just looks like an old fireplace to me,” grumpy that he could be missing snacks being served downstairs.
“Can’t you see it is magical? It looks just like the one Santa used in that old edition of ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas that we have at home!” replied the excited Golden.
“Well if that’s the case, how does it work?” said the older brother.
“I’m not sure. But Buddy the Elf, would probably recommend spreading Christmas cheer by singing loud for Santa to hear!” So the Golden who believed sang as loud as he could!
Then the two dogs waited for the magic to happen. Yet nothing did and they both headed back downstairs. All the while the enthusiastic Golden kept saying to himself, “I believe… I believe… I believe…”
That’s the thing about Christmas magic. It doesn’t happen on command. It happens on its own time. You just have to believe! And that’s exactly what happened after the dogs left the room.
The Golden, who believed, could sense something was different in the house. And quickly ran back upstairs to the magical fireplace. That’s when he saw it! Just like in the movie Miracle on 34th Street, Santa Claus’ cane magically appeared next to the fireplace!
As Fred said to Doris in that classic movie, “Faith is believing things when common sense tells you not to.” And that, my friends, is the magic of Christmas!
