Have I mentioned my manager, Llily Llama, isn’t that original when it comes to rock iconology? Case in point, when she heard Spinal Tap’s announcement that in 2026 they will be doing a concert at Stonehenge, she thought I should add an ancient rock symbol to my repertoire. Therefore, she sent me to the Emmons Preserve in Kennebunkport, Maine, to pose at their labyrinth.

Feeling uncharacteristically rebellious, I argued that her thought process was a bit contrived. And added that David Bowie already cornered the labyrinth market with the 1986 movie of that title. Boy was I unprepared for Llily Llama to squeak back at me, word for word, the monologue by David Bowie’s character, Jareth, the Goblin King:
“Everything that you wanted, I have done. You asked that child be taken; I took him. You cowered before me; I was frightened. I have reordered time, I have turned the world upside down, and I have done it all for you!”
Point taken! Although what did she mean by the “child was taken”? Guess I better do what I was told, before I found out. Her ideas may not be original, but Llily Llama sure takes her job as my manager serious. I had no choice but to enter the labyrinth!

I didn’t help my case either by doing a prodigious sneeze when I arrived. Dad called me the “Nose Goblin King,” the entire time we were there. Har. Har. Not funny Dad!

Anyways, regardless of my awkward start, I obediently did what I was told, and proceeded to walk the labyrinth.

But never being one with a good sense of direction, I may have accidentally crossed it diagonally rather than going in circles.

But in my defense, there was something that looked rather brain-like that I wanted to check out. Not sure what it was, but I did ponder if Alice Cooper or Motley Crue also visited here for a photoshoot? Or maybe this was used as a the set of a zombie movie? All rock clichés! So maybe my manager isn’t the only one who is a bit contrived?

Eventually I made it to the center of the labyrinth. But wasn’t feeling particularly inspired. However, remembering the Worm in the original movie who cautioned, “Things aren’t always what they seem in this place, so you can’t take anything for granted,” I sat here for a spell to contemplate the magic. Alright I was singing in my head the song from the movie Labyrinth, “Dance, magic dance (dance, magic dance)
Put that baby’s spell on me!”

Eventually I exited in the same diagonal way I entered. Rebel! Although I admit a rock star being a rebel isn’t an original idea either. I did though come across this runestone on my way out. That could work for a really cool album cover. I don’t recall any rock stars with a connection to runestones, just rhinestones. I’ll tuck this idea away for later.
