Well as expected Asa made the rookie mistake of not pacing himself and celebrating his birthday with too much exuberance yesterday. So while he recuperates, I’d like to share with you the Legend of the Cat Piñata. It all began many years ago, before I was even born. In fact, I thought it was an urban myth, told by old dogs to impressionable young puppies. But then I found this email my big brother, Lemmy, wrote to his Momma Butter about his first birthday party. It’s not a legend, there really was a Cat Piñata!
Oh and in case you are wondering, I blame Cousin Misty as to why the Cat Piñata has never become a cherished family tradition. Mean old cat…always ruining our fun! But I bet on Sunday over the Rainbow Bridge Lemmy will be happily once again be telling everyone about the Legend of the Cat Piñata.

Dear Momma Butter,
Happy Thanksgiving! This is my favorite holiday so far – it revolves around food and I don’t have to wear any silly costumes. My grandmother also had a birthday party for me today. I got all sorts of squeaky toys! There was even a Cat Piñata filled with treats that I got to tear apart. HA! No “leave it” command could keep me away from that cat!
I’m going to play with my squeaky toys now. Mike and Joy love hearing them, especially early in the morning!
Love, Lemmy
