Therapy dogs provide a valuable service in our communities. Whether it is providing comfort during difficult times, being a friendly face, or a good listener, they are always there to lend a helping paw. However, have you ever wondered what it takes for you and your dog to become a therapy dog team?
On Sunday, January 13, 2018, the Animal Welfare Society will be hosting a Canine Training Workshop – Therapy Dog 101, on the interesting field of therapy dog work. Alexandra Daley-Clark, Therapy Dog Evaluator and Handler, will share what a therapy dog is, where they visit, what they do, the canine behavior traits and skills required, how to assess whether your dog would enjoy being a therapy dog, certifying organizations, and more!
This free informational session will be taking place from 2:30 PM to 4:00 PM at the Animal Welfare Society’s training room (46 Holland Rd, Kennebunk, ME). This workshop is for humans only so please leave your dog at home. For more information, please visit the Animal Welfare Society or contact them directly at Obedience@AnimalWelfareSociety.org or 207-985-3244 ext. 111.
