Dear Mom and Dad,
In honor of Administrative Professionals Day we would like to thank you for your hard work assisting us with Living with a Golden, as well as address concerns about your possible future employment with us. First off, we’d like to begin by saying we truly appreciate your dedication to our website. We could not do the mundane tasks needed to make it so hugely successful without you. However with that said, we’d also like to acknowledge that advances in technology may soon make your jobs obsolete.
For example, as it stands now we rely on you to drive us to locations for our beach and trail reviews. However, as improvements are made to self-driving cars, your assistance will not be needed. Soon Asa and I will be able to just hop in the car, program it with our destination, and will be whisked off to exotic locations! But before you start preparing your resume for a new job, relax. Until scientists also invent a robot that can pick up dog poop, we still need you to tag along to clean up after us.
In addition to picking up our poop, currently you’re also responsible for documenting our lives. As you know I’ve experimented with wearing a GoPro, and have in many ways enjoyed the resulting footage. But the harness is a bit cumbersome, and let’s face it the camera doesn’t do well when I roll on my back in the sand and snow. Besides, as cameraman I am completely left out of the footage! So we still need you, Dad, to follow us with the GoPro. Also Mom, although we grumble about you constantly taking pictures of us, we must admit your photos have proved very useful in documenting our adventures. However, before you get too comfortable with the idea that you two are irreplaceable as our paparazzi, let me draw your attention to a recent article I read. In it they described a drone that can be programed to follow me and record my every move. The only drawback here is the price tag. So until Asa and I become independently wealthy, your jobs are secure.
Finally, there is the all important task of typing my wit and wisdom. Unfortunately despite my proposal to multiple software companies, none have taken seriously my suggestion for dog dictation software. So I will still need you, Mom, to type my blog. But if you continue to insert your editorial comments, or worst yet allow Asa to hijack my post like he did last week, I will be left with no choice but to hire Dad as your replacement.
So with all that in mind, please enjoy Administrative Professionals Day! And cheer up, even though with advances in technology your jobs will some day be replaced by machines, this will give you more time to play with us!
Sincerely,
Chuck Billy & Asa
