Utterly Humiliated

I’m so embarrassed.  I humiliated myself in front of Dad’s coworkers!  Up until now they knew me as the fierce watch dog who would bark to protect Dad while he worked.  Now they think of me as a goofy Golden and can’t stop laughing at my expense!

It all happened yesterday during the morning meeting conference call.  Asa kept me up late the night before with his foolish games.  So I thought I’d take a quick nap under Dad’s desk during the meeting.  No big deal, Dad can handle the meeting without me.  Plus I’ve slept through the morning meeting more than once in the past.  But this time I had the most wonderful dream!  Apparently I started wagging my tail in my sleep thumping it against the desk, and making happy little yelping noises like I did when I was a puppy.  Dad said I also made a “blub, blub, blub” noise like an office water cooler.  Well whatever noise I was making, I guess I was loud.  Because one of his coworkers stopped mid-sentence and asked what the noise was.  Dad quickly revealed it was me!  Come on Dad, I thought we had a good thing going?  It’s a phone call.  You could have said anything!  At least blame Asa and not me.  Or how about you, Asa?  What about the Bro Code?  You could’ve started barking and covered for me!  But no, my embarrassing secret was revealed.  I awoke to realize everyone was laughing at me.

I’m not sure what’s worse.  Knowing some of his coworkers were cracking jokes about me, or that others were cooing like I was some adorable little puppy.  Dad may have even snapped a photo and shared it with them!  I don’t dare ask if their dogs, namely Shilo and Lucy, heard me too.  How humiliating!  I pride myself on being a big tough guy!  Tough guys don’t make yapping noises and thump their tails when they sleep.  Adding insult to injury, at the end of the day someone even texted “nighty night killer.”  So today I’m hiding in my crate with my bruised ego to avoid being laughed at during their meeting.  Thank goodness it is Friday.  Hopefully all will be forgotten by Monday.

Thanks Asa for keeping me and my bruised ego company. Sigh…
