Vaughan Woods Memorial State Park, located on Oldfields Road in South Berwick, Maine, is 250 acres of forest along the Salmon Falls River. This is a great place to go hiking with your dog with its well marked trails of various terrain, open fields to run in, and scenic views. The 3+ miles of trails offer a variety of options for hiking, which makes it a great place to return to over and over again.
Limited parking is available along Oldfields Road, with additional parking inside the park grounds. Vaughan Woods also has picnic facilities, a playground, and public restrooms. The entrance fee, paid on the honor system at the gate, is Adult Maine Residents $2.00, Non Residents $3.00, Non Resident Seniors $1.00, and Children ages 5 to 11 $1.00. Children under 5 are free. As with most Maine State Parks, dogs are welcomed as long as they are leashed and their owners pick up after them. Vaughan Woods is adjacent to Hamilton House and Gardens, owned by Historic New England. Dogs are welcome on the grounds of Hamilton House, as long as they are leashed and respectful of the historic gardens.
