Wasting Away in Peanut Butter Paradise

Mondays in summer are always the most difficult. So as dogs spend their day daydreaming about the weekend while their owners toil away at work, here’s a little song by Asa sung to the tune of Jimmy Buffett’s “Margaritaville” to get you through the day. My apologies in advance to any and all fans of the original song.  Asa’s version is inspired by my summer romance with a bacon scented squeaky ball, and his occasional frozen peanut butter hangover from overindulging in our favorite treat.

Nibblin’ on dog treats,

Readin’ my friends’ tweets,

All about their plans for the summer.

Chewin’ my Nylabone, on my front yard.

Smell those hot dogs,

Hey the neighbors are startin’ their grill.

Wastin’ away again in Peanutbutterville,

Searchin’ for my lost squeaky ball.

Some dogs claim that there’s a human to blame,

But I know, it’s nobody’s fault.

Don’t know the reason,

The ball was here all season,

With nothin’ to show but a broken squeaker.

But it’s a real beauty,

A bacon ball cutie,

how it got lost, I haven’t a clue.

Wastin’ away again in Peanutbutterville,

Searchin’ for my lost squeaky ball.

Some dogs claim that there’s a human to blame,

Now I think,  – Hell it could be my fault.

I ran by my brother,

Caught it on first try,

Told to “come,” had to cruise back home.

But there’s peanut butter in the freezer,

And soon it will render,

That frozen concoction that I can’t resist.

Wastin’ away again in Peanutbutterville,

Searchin’ for my lost squeaky ball.

Some dogs claim that there’s a human to blame,

But I know it’s my own damn fault,

Yes, some dogs claim that there’s a human to blame,

And I know, it’s my own damn fault.

Cheers to the dog days of summer!
