Weekend Down the Drain

This weekend was almost perfect! It all began bright and early on Saturday morning when Mom and Dad took us to one of our favorite beaches!  Due to the recent storm, the waves churned up a lot of fragrant seaweed to roll in and explore.  We even made two new dog friends!  Sorry, I’m drawing a blank on their names at the moment, but it was a lot of fun playing fetch with those German Shepherds.

Next we headed home to assist with important landscaping projects.  While Mom was clearing out leaves from the flower beds, Asa found a dead mouse!  He attempted to resuscitate it, but it was too late.  While Asa tried to save the dead, I honored them.  I got to dig in the dirt to help Dad plant two Bearberry Bushes in memory of my Cousin Bear and his best friend Siep, who passed away last year.

We finished our fun on Saturday by supervising Dad as he cleaned and repaired our hives to welcome our new Honey Bees.  Being paws-on beekeepers, Asa and I stuck to Dad’s side watching his every move.  And I do mean stuck!  As he repaired the frames, bits of honey and comb dripped on our heads.  Boy did we taste good afterwards!

The next morning we were off on another adventure!  This time we headed to a beach that we have never explored before.  However, Mom accidentally forgot our ChuckIt Launcher and tennis balls in the garage at home.  No worries though.  I had a great time digging for treasure in the sand, while Asa rolled on the clam shells and rocks that I uncovered.

Then all that fun came to a screeching halt!  On Sunday afternoon Mom and Dad corralled us into the bathroom and forced us to take baths!  Goodbye bits of seaweed!  Adios mud!  So long lingering smell of dead mouse!  Farewell sticky honey goodness!  All those precious memories of our perfect weekend washed away down the drain!  On the bright side, having a bath isn’t so bad.  I’m now a clean slate and looking forward to the new scents and memories I will collect in my fur this week!

What do you mean we need baths? The dirt and smells are treasured memories of our weekend!
