When Hawaii Freezes Over

Dear Mother Nature, we need to have a little talk.  We couldn’t help but notice that it is December here in Maine, and all we’re suppose to receive today is a dusting to a couple inches of snow.  Yet our friends all around the country and beyond are already enjoying lots and lots of snow.  Don’t get me wrong, the spring like temperatures you granted us last week were delightful, and extended our beach romps into winter, which is always a special treat.  But there’s something magical about the first snow.  Not to mention we’re getting really jealous scrolling through Twitter and Facebook and seeing all our friends playing in the snow.  Adding insult to injury, we found out you even made it snow in Hawaii this past weekend!  Seriously, you gave Hawaii three feet of snow, but here in the home state of the world famous LL Bean winter boots we only had a dusting…if that, so far?

However, hopefully today you plan to change all that, Mother Nature!  Asa and I are filling with anticipation as we watch the first flakes fall!  Oh how I love to roll in the snow, dig to great depths without getting reprimanded, and laugh at the confused look on Asa’s face when he searches for snowballs that disappear when they hit the snow covered ground!  Winter really is the most wonderful time of the year!  But not to be fussy or anything, we couldn’t help but notice you gave Hawaii three feet of snow, and we’ll be lucky if we get three inches today.  A bit more would be nice.  However, I guess we must accept that you have a plan, and we should just be happy that you haven’t completely forgotten us.  So as we await the first big snowstorm of the season, Asa and I will be satisfied with whatever snow you send us today.  Thank You Mother Nature!

Mother Nature, enough is enough - We Want Snow!
