Who’s a Good Boy?

Who’s a good boy?  ME!  I’m a good boy!  This morning Asa was determined to lunge at every stick, leaf and pinecone along our walking route.  As you can well imagine that quickly became annoying for Dad and me.  So there I was bracing myself for the next inevitable lunge, when next thing I know the little bugger yanked my collar off!  There I was naked for all the world to see, or at least the neighbors who were up at dawn.  Naked as a Golden Wolf should be!

My mind raced as the freedom of the woods beckoned.  But did I neglect my duties and abandon Dad?  Never!  I knew he needed my help with Asa.  Not to mention it is my responsibility to patrol the neighborhood each morning.  So I continued to walk next to Dad as if nothing ever happened.  I have to admit we went a good distance before my dangling collar on the tandem leash caught Dad’s attention.  Baffled, he stopped dead in his tracks and looked bewildered at the leash and at me.  At first he was angry at me.  But one pull from Asa, and Dad realized the course of events.  While putting my collar back on, he simultaneously praised me while reprimanding Asa.  As a reward for my obedience, Dad shared his scrambled eggs with me this morning.  It’s nice to be acknowledged for my loyalty.  Oh and even better, Mom is getting me a new collar.  No more wearing that embarassing squirrel one anymore!  It pays to be good!  Thanks Asa!
