If you’re looking for a quick but scenic place to walk your dog, the Wiggly Bridge and Steedman Woods are a great dog friendly destination. Located in York Harbor, Maine, this a short and scenic walk that includes a mini-suspension bridge. The trail head can be found at a manmade causeway off Lilac Lane (Rte 103), then cross the Wiggly Bridge over the tidal flow of the Barrel Mill Pond into the York River, to Steedman Woods.
Steedman Woods is owned by the Old York Historical Society, and is a wooded walk that loops you past scenic vistas. The trail itself is approximately one mile, covered in wood chips, and perfect for paws on a hot day. Dogs must remain on leash. Please note that they are currently restoring the mudflats, so it is requested that you stay on the trail. There is a small on road parking area on Lilac Lane with both public and permit parking.
To extend your visit, cross Route 103 and continue your walk on Fishermen’s Path, which leads to York Harbor Beach. To learn more about other Dog Trails in the area, as well as the date and times for nearby Dog Beaches in York, please visit our Dog Friendly Places page.
