Winter Walk: Ogunquit, Maine

Winter is a great time to get out and explore the places that are off-limits to dogs during the summer months.  Marginal Way in Ogunquit, Maine is one of those places!  This 1.25 mile path is an easy winter walk for dogs, and a wonderful reminder of nature’s beauty in all seasons.  The paved walkway has spectacular views of the quintessential Maine coastline, and is lined with benches to stop and enjoy the rugged cliffs and crashing surf.  Marginal Way doesn’t loop, so you will have to backtrack the way you came, or hop off at one of the many entry points to explore the abutting neighborhoods.

From October 1 through March 31, dogs are allowed on-leash at Marginal Way.  However, NO dogs are allowed from April 1 through September 30, and there is a hefty $100 fine if caught breaking that rule.  So now is the time to get out there and enjoy it!  There are two municipal parking lots in the area.  One lot is at Perkins Cove, at the south end of Marginal Way.  Obed’s Lot is at the north end, and can be entered from Cottage Street.  Two hour parking is free during the off season.
