In honor of Labor Day, I’d like to give a shout out to the hardest working dogs I know – the K9s of the Working Dog Foundation! These highly trained dogs are accomplished professionals who are on duty day and night helping to protect our police officers and assist them locate and rescue missing persons; detect dangerous drugs, weapons, and explosives; and keep our communities safe. Their acute sense of smell, sharp hearing, and intense training dramatically cut the time of a search and rescue mission. In addition, their ability to locate vital evidence can bring criminals to justice more quickly and safely while protecting the lives of the police officers and citizens they serve. They also make great ambassadors for their police departments at schools and community events.
This year the Working Dog Foundation is celebrating their 20th Anniversary of helping communities in New Hampshire, Maine and Massachusetts train and care for their K9 teams. To celebrate they will be hosting a Fall Festival on Saturday, September 19, 2015 from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM at Scamman Farm in Stratham, NH. There will be helicopter rides, “Trucks ‘N Stuff,” live music, corn maze, K9 vendors, and of course Police K9 demonstrations. Admission is $5 with all proceeds to benefit the important work of the foundation including helping to provide dogs to police departments, training these dogs and their police partners, and donating equipment including protective vests to the dogs. Please note, this is a day dedicated to the hard work of K9s and their handlers, so NO pets will be allowed at this event.
