Your Future Self Will Thank You

Let’s face it, nothing in life is guaranteed forever. This includes social media. Yet each day we share everything from our highs to lows, to just the minutia of daily life. However, have you ever thought about what if access to it goes away? Some may say they have everything backed up on The Cloud, an external hard drive, or something similar. These are all great and highly recommended. But how often do you go back and look at it? Or even check that they really are being backed up? And technology does change, making some of those backups difficult to access over time. Therefore, this year we challenge you to make something with those photos!

Now hear us out, we agree that if you’re like our Mom and snapping away constantly, that is an impossible task to make something with a bazillion photos. However if you go through your photos from just the past year, select your favorites and print them, you now have an easy, accessible way to look back at the highlights from grand adventures to quiet moments at home. Seems obvious, right? But yet time and time again we hear folks lamenting memory being full and having to delete photos, or being locked out of a favorite social media platform, or simply they can’t find a favorite photo with all the scrolling. So consider this as a backup for your backup!

It doesn’t have to be difficult either. From printing a few suitable for framing, making a calendar of important moments, to curating your favorite ones to be made into a photo album or scrapbook with other added mementos, the possibilities are endless! Our Mom has been doing this since our brother Lemmy was a puppy, and now we’ve amassed quite the library of memories available at our paws to enjoy at any time. Give it a try – your future self will thank you.

We know that many of our friends already do this with their photos. However, if you haven’t started this tradition yet, here are a few ways Mom has used our photos in the past. And yes, Chuck Billy and I have noticed Lemmy’s albums were mostly handmade, whereas ours are made using one of the many photo websites out there. Either way, they are all fun to look through, and even make great gifts!

Also the irony of us refusing to pose with our photos for this post about photos is not lost on us.
Oh and if you need a few ideas on how to get a different perspective with your photos this year, check out our photography challenge from last year!
