150th Golden Retriever Anniversary Gifts

Celebrate the 150th Anniversary of the Golden Retriever with these unique gifts.  To mark this milestone, here are some ideas for Golden gifts from Friends of Guisachan for your friends and family on your holiday shopping list.  There’s even the opportunity to honor your special Golden by lending a helping paw to preserve their ancestral estate.

The Friends of Guisachan is a non-profit organization dedicated to the Golden Retriever’s ancestral home in Scotland.  Their goal is to share information about Guisachan, the ancestral home of the Golden Retriever, as well as to celebrate the breed that we love so dearly.  Available at their online store is the commemorative DVD of the 150th Anniversary Guisachan Golden Gathering at the estate, featuring 361 Goldens who came to party at that weeklong celebration.

For the history enthusiast they also offer a variety of books on the Golden Retriever, ranging from a commemorative booklet highlighting the history of the breed, to a more in-depth discussion on the first 70 years of Goldens including a social and family history of the seven people whose contributions were pivotal in the development of the breed, and finally a must have book for the show dogs in your life is a book on the first 100 years of Golden Retrievers in the show ring.

Friends of Guisachan also sells a commemorative 1/4 zip shirt of the historical 2018 gathering in July, as well as notecards and items featuring the Guisachan tweed.  All items shipped to the United States are subject to taxes and duties.  Proceeds benefit Friends of Guisachan.  For more information, please visit Friends of Guisachan Market Place.

For the Golden Retriever lover on your list who has everything or to honor the memory of a special Golden in your life, may we suggest donating directly to the stabilization of the Guisachan estate ruins.  This summer, at the 150th Anniversary celebration of the founding of our breed in Scotland, the owner of the mansion ruins, Alex Grigg, saw how much the Golden community reveres this site.  He then announced his intention to stabilize the ruins and perhaps create a Golden Retriever educational site.  Golden owners around the world are being asked to help bring about this wonderful endeavor.  The Golden Retriever Club of Scotland is establishing a charitable trust to receive donations. US donors can receive a tax deduction through FOG’s 501 (c) 3 status.  For more information and to donate, please visit Retrieving Guisachan: Our Goldens’ Ancestral Home.  For photos on the initial work to stabilize the estate where our favorite breed started, please visit on Facebook, Friends of Guisachan.

Celebrate the 150th Anniversary of the Golden Retriever with these unique gifts.
