Asa, we need to have a little chat. Yes it is impressive that you out ran me and caught that frisbee…multiple times…in a row. But don’t you even think for a minute it is because you’re more athletic than me. It was just pure luck. After all, as your older brother anything you can do I can do better! No seriously, I can. It’s genetic.
Now I know I’m partly to blame for your inflated sense of how good you are at fetch. As a puppy I encouraged you to practice, practice, practice your eye/mouth coordination with endless games of fetch. After all fetch is a game of skill, and as your superior older brother I’m obviously better at it. I even let you win a few times. Seriously, I did. I made it look like I purposely missed the ball…over and over again…in a row. If you think catching the ball is hard, try missing it on purpose!
But now I’m realizing that the studies are correct and I should have taught you how to lose gracefully as well. So here’s the deal. You need to respect your elders and step aside to let me show you how a professional does it. So don’t even think of out running me the next time Mom throws the frisbee. Just back off because I’m clearly going to catch it. I just don’t all the time because it makes the game more interesting for me. Yes, that’s it. More interesting.
Asa’s Rebuttal: I agree it is more fun to take turns and cheer each other on, because that’s what brothers do! So I will sit out the next round of fetch. But only if you promise in the future when you “purposely” lose you won’t turn around and destroy my toy! The only reason why we’re playing frisbee today is because you shredded my tennis ball after losing yesterday.
