Asa’s Birthday Weekend Celebration

First off, I’d like to thank everyone for your birthday well wishes yesterday!  I hope my birthday jokes made you laugh.  It is truly humbling how across the country everyone celebrated my birthday, starting on Thursday with that big parade held in my honor in in New York City.  It had everything I love, music, dancing, Big Bird and even Kelly Clarkson!  One of these years I will happily lead the parade to Herald Square.  However, Grandma always hosts a big family dinner for me that day, and I really can’t disappoint her.

Speaking of food, Chuck Billy surprised me with the BEST cake ever!  It was shaped like a giant tennis ball!  However rather than playing fetch with it, my family sat around the table eating it.  Talk about mixed messages!  Mom is always telling Chuck Billy not to eat my toys, but yet here they were doing exactly that!  Maybe Mom did it because she was jealous?  As you can see in the photo, Mom’s name was included on the cake.  Her birthday is in November too, and we share a party.  I couldn’t help but notice that I got way more presents than her, so perhaps that’s why she ate my ginormous tennis ball cake?

Speaking of presents, it was very flattering on Friday to see all those people flocking to the stores to buy me a gift.  But I already have more than I could possibly need.  Therefore, I ask that you take your purchases and give them to your loved ones this Christmas, and perhaps keep a few of the gifts for yourself to remember my special birthday weekend.

My birthday celebration continued on Saturday with a walk in a winter wonderland!  Normally I celebrate with a beach romp, but this year Mother Nature surprised me with lots of snow.  I LOVE snow!  Chuck Billy remembers it snowed on the day that I was born.  I was tiny, and don’t remember that day.  I do recall though that year was one of the snowiest on record.  Maybe Mother Nature will do it again this year!

If so she’s keeping it as a surprise, because on Sunday, the actual day of my 4th birthday, she made it rain!  Thus canceling any plans for a Sunday Fun Day adventure.  But that’s ok.  It gave me the opportunity to play with my presents while enjoying a quiet day with my family.  Speaking of family, they had one more surprise for me yesterday, my very own big boy bed!  I made one mistake as a puppy and destroyed my first bed…ok, and my second bed too…but now that I’m older and wiser, they are entrusting me with my very own comfy bed for my crate.  This is the best birthday ever!  If this weekend is any indication of how the upcoming year will be, I can’t wait!  It’s great to be 4!

Wait, what do you mean we we can’t play fetch with this ball but we can eat it?!
