Asa’s Nose Update

Friends, I’ve been keeping a secret. Shortly after sharing in March the good news from my doctors, my nose cannon started firing again with a vengeance. The excessive ooze also resumed after months of it being under control. Needless to say, we all began to worry that the nasal fungus was fighting back.

However, as the Internal Medicine veterinarian had cautioned us, due to the damage to the left nasal cavity from the Aspergillosis eating away at the soft tissue, I am more susceptible to colds and other infections. Therefore she put me on antibiotics, in the hopes that it is a respiratory infection unrelated to the Aspergillosis.

I finished the antibiotics this morning. The sneezing has subsided, and the dripping has returned to clear. However, the honking cough has increased these past few days. We are in a waiting period to see if any of the fungal symptoms increase, but remain optimistic. There is another anti-fungal medication I can add to my treatment, but for now I hope to avoid it. The original anti-fungal medication I’m on is slow working, so we need to continue to be patient while it kicks that fungus out, or at least keeps it at bay.

Sorry for not sharing this sooner, but after getting good news, we just couldn’t bear sharing this setback. Here’s hoping that my doctor got me back on the right track. And as you can see, I’m not letting it slow me down from enjoying adventures!

Thank you again for your love and kindness on my health journey!
